Mexico Outfitter Billy Champman Jr. Honored by Fishing Hall of Fame
Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 by ttnewsThe National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame (NFWFHF) recently announced the induction of Billy Chapman, Jr. into the organization with the Special Recognition Award. A reception honoring Chapman is schedule during the 2009 International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trade (ICAST) show.
Chapman will receive a special presentation on Thursday, July 16, at 4:45pm in the G. Loomis show booth (#736).
Making the presentation will be NFWFHF Executive Director Emmitt Brown, NFWFHF Awards Committee member Bruce Holt and noted outdoor writer Stan Fagerstrom, a NFWFHF “Legendary Angler.”
Chapman is best known as the outfitter that introduced El Salto Lake and its wonderful bass fishery in the Sierra Madre mountains to untold thousands of anglers worldwide. His Anglers Inn fishing resorts are unmatched for the very best for bass fishing locations and services. Chapman is also recognized for putting peacock bass fishing on the map and for creating the first two peacock bass 5-star lodges in the Amazons in the 1980s.
The award recognizes Chapman for his contributions to the sport of fishing, being at the forefront for decades promoting successful angling and fisheries conservation on Mexico lakes.
