It’s official, the rumours are true! 2009 will see a brand new, professional bass fishing competition poised to be the most anticipated event ever. The Berkley B1 Canadian Bass Open, powered by Castrol is set to take place on June 20-21, 2009 in Lachine, Quebec, Canada. Over 100 teams of two anglers are estimated to gather on the waters of Lake Saint-Louis and Lake of Two Mountains to battle it out for over $100,000 in cash and prizes as well as the ultimate bragging rights. The Berkley B1 sets out to crown Canada’s best bass anglers but the competition will be fierce, as the best names in the business, spanning from Western Ontario to the Northern US will be there to duke it out.

“Never before has there ever been an event with this much hype, anticipation and visibility.” states *Ben Woo, President & Founder, Berkley B1. “Fishing has and always will be an integral part of the Canadian fabric, but the B1 will take it to a whole new level of excitement, challenge and glory.”
With an extensive history and track record in the events promotions and productions segment, Woo plans to breathe new life into the sport fishing market by introducing proven successful elements borrowed from his experience. In media partnerships with radio stations Team 990AM and CKAC Sports, as well as an exclusive television deal with RDS, the B1 competition will draw attention from near and far. On-site activities for spectators will include truck and boat displays, fishing related vendors, activities for children and a southern-style barbecue to tie it all together. There will be no admission charge for these attractions.
